This lightweight braking gear is easier to use than any equipment I’ve ever been issued. I used it while working on a two-story roof, and the rope climbed smoothly without any falls, so I couldn’t check the dynamic stop. However, it seemed to grip quickly when descending, and I didn’t need to hold the cam at all.

I’ve been using it with 10mm polyester rope, and it feels very sturdy while cutting trees. I weigh only 150 pounds, so there’s plenty of margin between my weight plus 20 pounds of gear and the 220-pound maximum load rating. If you know what you’re doing and use it with the recommended rope size, it works great.
